Sherin’s Climb

The climber gripped an icy rock of Wilder Pfaff, a 3,500m Tyrolean peak. Cold wind blew around him as he paused, wiped sweat from his forehead, and continued higher. Tired, he reached the summit. For most, this would be the time to rest, but Sherin was only starting. He put on his skis, looked at his friends one last time, and, without hesitation, down he went. As he navigated the uncharted terrain, his heart beat fast, carefully avoiding hidden crevasses and spiky drops.

Down, at the foot of the mountain, he smiled, realizing he was the first person to successfully ski this route. Dangerous? Perhaps. But that rush of beating the impossible drove Sherin, whether on cliffs or in code, to create cutting-edge artificial intelligence solutions for Cloudflight’s clients.

Going up & going far

Sherin studied robotics at TU Delft in the Netherlands but was always driven by his two passions, artificial intelligence and climbing. To pursue the first passion, he built on his academic technical knowledge in his spare time and additionally taught himself Python, TensorFlow, Azure, and everything there was to know about the latest AI trends like neural networks or reinforcement learning. And then, when COVID stilled the world, Innsbruck’s mountains called. He wanted a life where code met adventure.

He landed a machine learning role at our Innsbruck office. The work was good, but a moment over coffee changed everything. A project lead leaned in and said, “Build us a Voice-to-Order app prototype. Fast. Make the client’s jaw drop.” Sherin felt a spark. He worked long hours, tweaking code, testing models. His prototype won the pitch and caught the eye of new clients. That app was another “Wilder Pfaff” moment. Since then, Sherin had led our Agentic AI efforts. He speaks at conferences, from Microsoft’s Munich HQ to Kitzbühel’s AI Summit and a bunch of local meetups.

At Cloudflight, if you have a vision, go for it and people will support you on the way”

Sherin’s growing responsibilities luckily do not interfere with his sport ambitions. On weekends, he and his girlfriend pile into a van. They ski uncharted slopes or boulder alongside experienced Olympians, working towards 8a routes (a grade only 1% of climbers hit). On his Instagram, he shares his adventures with his 9,000 followers. And they love his memes. One even got over 50 million views! Sherin isn’t an AI genius. He’s a climber and an engineer who has worked hard to follow his passions. And enjoyed every step of the journey.
