Always Going Forward…
In 2017, he discovered Cloudflight and joined as an intern in Linz. First, he worked on an internal project of display control by Alexa and then on an NLP demo to provide a tool that could show our expertise in this area to potential customers. Even then, it wasn’t just the coding skills that set Benji on a promising career trajectory. From the start, he was excited to take on responsibilities and get things moving. Even as an intern, he organized community events and wasn’t afraid to approach the leadership team. Because of his persistence and valid arguments, we opened our office in Amstetten.
Benji has always been motivated to move forward. After his bachelor’s, he started working full-time and developed himself from a software engineer to a data scientist, team leader, project leader, and also a location leader in Amstetten. Despite all of these career successes, he knew that he wanted to finish his master’s degree as well. To make it possible, he decreased his working hours from full-time to 20 hours a week. As this sort of flexibility is a standard Cloudflight policy, it went very smoothly. The hard part was truly sticking to the reduced hours, as Benji was involved a lot.
…But Giving Back
In the end, he overcame the challenge of combining private life with professional growth and academic development. Today, Benji ensures the growth of the location in Amstetten and supports several customer projects with his leadership and engineering abilities. He is involved in an internal Community of Practice too, which researches the top trends in AI and ensures the competitiveness of our solutions. He also gives back to the students in the area: just as he was inspired by his teacher, he now inspires young minds in regular workshops, sharing insights into Clean Code, Scrum, and project management.
When he’s not at work, Benji is just as busy. He’s a keen tennis player, squash player, and a big F1 fan. Adding his wonderful girlfriend to the mix and a plan for a family in the future, one might wonder if his day has more than 24 hours! It is a total privilege to work alongside such a super positive and always motivated team player. Benji, thank you!
