Overcoming language barriers
Like a river meandering through the landscape, Anca’s path to technology was not straight. In fact, she has always wanted to be a medical doctor to help others. Yet this dream was cut short after she visited a hospital with her father and realized that this environment is simply too overwhelming. With some hesitation, she pivoted towards the world of IT. Initially studying Business Informatics at a university in Romania, Anca later focused on Databases for her MSc. studies and it was then that she got to know Cloudflight.
The beginning was challenging: our major customer strictly required the use of German in her project, which she does not speak. However, step by step, Anca was able to earn customer’s trust by consistently delivering within scope, budget and time. Furthermore, through her unwavering effort to deeply understand the business case, Anca was able to proactively offer curated insights and innovative solutions. And because of this high added value, which could only be delivered in English, the project slowly shifted its language.
Opportunities at Cloudflight
This change was a turning point, allowing Anca to demonstrate her full potential and leading to significant career progression. Over seven years (and counting) at Cloudflight, she worked as a software engineer, requirements engineer, technical architect, team leader, and even a project leader with our largest account. Today Anca remains at the helm of the project as its lead and additionally acts as a delivery manager on the side of the customer.
However, for Anca, it is not all about the career growth. She values the flexibility that allows her to balance work with her personal life, for example the workations in beautiful locales and attending international conferences. She appreciates our collaborative community, where sharing knowledge is part of the culture, and the opportunity to see the impact of her work firsthand. Looking ahead, Anca is excited about taking on more leadership roles, drawing on her experience and passion for mentorship to foster growth for both the company and her colleagues. And we could not be happier to be part of Anca’s inspirational journey .
