Precise material testing thanks to CT system with intuitive HMI
In order to ensure high quality and reliability in non-destructive material testing, we need systems that enable intuitive operation and reliable results.

The challenge
Development of an innovative user interface that meets the individual needs of different user groups
Our long-standing customer YXLON International develops and produces radioscopy and computed tomography (CT) testing systems for industrial applications. The systems for non-destructive material testing are used in a wide range of applications in the aerospace, automotive, and electronics industries, where they ensure quality and safety. For these different applications, it is necessary to develop a user interface that allows a fast and reliable assessment of the material test.

The solution
Design for the entire product family
“Geminy” is part of the development project of the YXLON FF 20/35 CT high-resolution CT systems and is also used in the YXLON FF85 CT. According to the requirements of YXLON, we developed software with smart touch operation for the intuitive control of the CT systems. The logical division over two monitors simplifies the analysis and reduces the processing time of the testers so that they can work productively within a short time. User-oriented profiles ensure optimal test results for both occasional and experienced users and thus lead to greater efficiency in everyday testing. Geminy is a powerful tool for experts yet is easy to learn for novice users.
Geminy for YXLON , a novel operating software including user interface, enables the perfect CT scan. It was awarded both the German Design Award and the German Innovation Award in 2018.

Diverse operating types, flexibly accommodated
In terms of user-friendliness, it is important to integrate different operating types and a simple user interface into testing systems in order to support users with intelligent functionality.
Our project partners

YXLON
YXLON International develops and manufactures radioscopy and CT tests systems for numerous industrial applications. YXLON International is the direct successor of Philips Industrial X-Ray. The company’s roots go back to the discovery of X-rays by Wilhelm Conrad Röntgen in 1895 and the production of the first X-ray tube by Carl Heinrich Florenz Müller in Hamburg in 1896.

macio
macio GmbH is a holistic development partner for software engineering, UI/UX design, and digital transformation. Our consulting services and solutions are always perfectly tailored to the individual needs of our customers from the equipment engineering, mechanical engineering, and medical/laboratory engineering sectors.
