The National Bildungsplattform is an initiative of the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research. This educational platform acts as a meta-platform and provides its users with access to content and learning tools from a wide variety of contributors. Leveraging our extensive expertise in developing knowledge spaces, we were able to create a highly flexible NLP-pipeline and corresponding graph visualization capable of ingesting a wide mixture of education resources.

Getting to the core of educational material
When developing the pilot for its national educational platform, the Federal Ministry for Education and Research was faced with the task of providing a system that can incorporate a range of educational media and organize it around common concepts.

AI for extracting core concepts and creating links between them
Our tool for The National Bildungsplattform allows the representation of all content in a navigable, immersive graph consisting of the extracted key concepts and their relationships while providing learners with the ability to plot personalized learning pathways through the subject matter. We contributed to this by using AI to extract core concepts and create links between them.

The new National Education Platform (NBP) is intended to function as a digital education space for Germany in the form of a meta platform. The goal of the client, the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF), is individual and cross-discipline digital access to innovative teaching and learning formats. Adapted to the current situation in life, learners and teachers should be able to move unhindered through the various digital educational offerings and forms individually and flexibly across all age groups and educational areas.
