41st Cloudflight Coding Contest brings together over 4,700 developers worldwide
Vienna, November 17, 2025
On Friday, November 14, 2025, the Cloudflight Coding Contest (CCC) celebrated its 41st edition, connecting developers from across the globe. A total of 4,753 participants from 10 countries competed simultaneously online and at 42 on-site locations around the world, spanning from Germany and Austria to Tanzania and India.
Since its inception in 2007, the CCC has grown to become one of Europe’s largest and most prestigious programming competitions. The competition aims to foster enthusiasm for technology while strengthening connections between talents, companies, and educational institutions.
Gregor Sieber, Managing Director Austria at Cloudflight, commented:
“Austria is where the CCC originated, and Vienna remains one of its largest hubs: This is highlighting the strength of the local developer community. Here in Austria, we shape the future with passion and technical excellence. It makes us immensely proud that the CCC, starting from Austria, has evolved into an international community event spread across continents with participants from all over the globe.”
Participants faced challenging, real-world programming tasks across three categories during the competition. The “School” track targeted students and programming beginners; the “Classic” track welcomed experienced developers to solve complex algorithmic problems; and the “Data/AI” track catered to participants specializing in data analysis, machine learning, and artificial intelligence.
Wassili Alexopoulos, Managing Director Germany at Cloudflight, shared his thoughts:
“The CCC was once again a huge success. We were particularly thrilled by the high level of interest in our Data/AI track, which brought the mega-topic of AI into practical application, showcasing how AI can be used to develop impressive solutions to real-world challenges.”
Tasks across all three tracks were kept secret until the competition kicked off, challenging participants’ algorithmic thinking, endurance, and teamwork. In the „School” track, contestants worked on the challenge “Asteroid Mining,” traveling to the year 2048 to devise an optimal tunnel layout for extracting minerals from asteroids using the right algorithms. In the “Classic” track, participants tackled the game “Spaceship,” also set in 2048, where they had to navigate a spacecraft safely through space using a precise algorithm. Finally, in the “Data/AI” track, participants became ornithologists in the game “Migratory Birds,” training their own AI models using data to predict bird migration patterns. Each of the six levels presented increasing difficulty. As in previous years, all solutions were submitted on Cloudflight’s custom-built platform, CatCoder, which allowed live tracking of teams’ progress throughout the event.
In the evening, the winners of the 41st CCC were awarded. In the global ranking, the following teams won in their respective category:
- 1st place in the “School” track: Team HTL_Leonding_greater_than_Litec– a two-person team from Austria competing on-site in Linz.
- 1st place in the “Classic” track: Team KI_ist_unverdient – a three-person team from Austria competing on-site in St. Pölten.
- 1st place in the “Data/AI” track: Team Mara & Cata – a two-person team from Romania competing on-site in Cluj.
